Distress Ink Sunset - Shaker Tags feat Craftin Desert Divas Summer Vibin and Cool Summer stamps

Hello everyone! I am back with another project using products from the Craftin Desert Divas July release - this time I am showcasing the Summer Vibin stamp set, alongside with the Cool Summer digital stamp (that cute rhino), which was given out as a freebie during the Craftin Desert Divas July release event.
For this project I decided to make shaker tags, and I wanted them to look like these little critters were chilling in the sea at sunset. For the tags I used some free SVG outlines (you can find them here   which I used to cut some Bristol Smooth Cardstock with my Silhouette Portrait. You could also use tag dies, if you prefer, or cut your own tags with your scissors. I also modified the SVGs so that they would cut bot then solid tag shape and the front of my shaker tag with the shaker window.
To create the sea line on my tags I made a stencil out of some white cardstock using the wave die in the Craftin Desert Divas Outdoor Landscape 2 Dies set. I then used Distress Inks and my DIY stencil to create my sunset background: for the sea I used Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and a light touch of Blueprint Sketch, and for the sky I used Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry and Broken China. I made sure that both the waves and the transitions between the colors of the sky on my shaker front would match with what I had on the shaker background.
I then put everything aside to dry and colored my images with my Prismacolor pencils. I used the blender pencil to blend everything together, and I tried to use similar colors on all the images, so that they would look cohesive. You don't really need to do that, especially if you are going to give these tags to different people, but I think it still makes things a bit easier when it comes to picking your color scheme - cause you only have to do that once! :) Plus I wanted this to look like a set of tags, so that's why I went for similar colors. I also tried to add some darker and more defined shadows because I felt that they made more sense with the sunset setting of my tags.
At this point I used some clear acetate to coat the back of my shaker window, before backing it with a double layer of 3M foam tape. I added some sequins from the Craftin Desert Divas Carnie sequin mix and I adhered my shaker to the background. I used my Tonic Studios Funky tape runner to glue the images to the front of my tag, I doubled up some embroidery floss I have leftover from my cross stitching days, and I threaded it through the holes of my tags.
And that's it for this project. I really really love how this one turned out: the critters are just too cute and the shaker bit makes thes tags even more fun!
Before I leave I wanted to tell you that Craftin Desert Divas will pair up with Card Maker magazine for blog hop on July 14th, and one lucky winner will receive a 75$ gift certificate to the Craftin Desert Divas online store. My blog will be part of the hop too, and I will share more details on my blog hop post, that will be up on July 14th. And I will also have a fun free resource for you :)
And that's it for today's post!  I will catch you guys on Friday, and in the meantime I wish you all a great day! Ciaooo!
